Shot peening produces a compressive residual stress layer to modify the mechanical properties of metals. It is used to strengthen and relieve surface stress, extending the life of springs, gears, and other components. Shot peening can also be utilized to increase the life of weldments by relieving tensile stresses introduced during fabrication, and replacing them with advantageous compressive stresses that increase part life.
At Aamro, we offer shot peening with steel, stainless steel, ceramic, or glass bead media. We offer Almen testing to verify the intensity of the peening process, as well as peen scans to ensure full peening coverage. We follow MIL-S-13165, AMS-S-13165, AMS2430, and SAE J 2441-2000 shot peening standards and support a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, and military. For more information about our shot peening services, see the table below, or contact us directly.
